This recap email is late and I apologize for that. You were supposed to receive this email this past Saturday and this week’s email today. This week’s email will come tomorrow. I have a reason why this email is late and you can read more about that below, but first, the recap:

Week 2 Activity & Verse
Our activity:
This week we set aside time to dance the night away with our person. It was something simple, but that was the point. This activity gave us a fun way to embrace the social aspect of life.

Here’s the verse we focused on:
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5

Embracing My 2020
I embraced this activity with excitement. I love creating an “event” even if it is something as simple as a night dancing with the hubby in my living room. Event planning is part of my unique design, and, over the years, I have come to see my love of a cultivating space and time for enjoyment less as frivolous and more of a gift from my Creator.

So, this activity leaned into my design in a way that was life-giving. I will say though, I was surprised by how much it revealed to me that I missed my husband. Even though we have occupied the same space far more than we ever have in the past 12 years thanks to the Stay-at-Home orders in our state, we share that space with three littles who demand our time, energy, and focus. Embracing the week with this activity reminded me that I have my best friend by my side to embrace the week with. I would love to hear what this activity did for you. Hit reply to this email and let me know!

As mentioned above, I have a reason for why this email is late landing in your inbox. After dancing the night away on Thursday, my husband received a phone call a few hours into his workday informing him that he and a handful of others on his account will be laid off due to the impact of Covid-19.

As you can imagine — I hope you are just imagining and not going through this yourselves — this was difficult news to take in. I will confess, between this news and other commitments I had, the weekend got away from me.

I want to work on that this week. I want to not let discouraging news consume my thoughts with fear and instead embrace what is with hope.

Reflection Questions
If taking some time to reflect speaks to you, here are a few questions you can use:

  • What did I enjoy about this activity?
  • What surprised me?
  • What did I wish there was more of?
  • What did I not enjoy?
  • What did I learn about myself through this activity?
